Hi guys!
Sorry it took years for me to blog, I just finished school and work yesterday soo I’ve been really busy [lame, I know].
Anyways, my name is Katie, I was born and raised (mostly) in Maryland. Don’t want to bore you with a novel about my life since we have 4 months to get to know each other buuut I guess the basics are I love languages and traveling (I feel like my life revolves around it). My only sibling is my younger sister Dani, who was adopted from Cambodia when I was 5. I went to a French Immersion elementary school from K-5th grade so I love French and have been speaking it for a long time. The summer before I started 6th grade, my family moved to Hungary to be missionaries for 3 years. We came back the summer before I started 9th grade (fun fact: High school is the first time I went to school in English). I graduated from high school in 2010 and went to Gordon College (small Christian school near Boston) for a semester but then transferred to University of Maryland because Gordon’s French program wasn’t super strong (I’m a French major but plan to add a second major eventually) and my mom works at UMD so I get free tuition (really hard to pass up).
Long story short, I don’t like UMD at all (though their French program is really good) and really miss the small school thing, so I decided to take a semester off to do missions (more traveling!) and to take some time to think/pray about my next step which sounds like a lot of us are in reflecting-about-life-states so we can ponder life together. Yipee! And I’ve never been to Africa so that’s exciting.
Other random facts about me, I’m 6 feet tall and have really big feet for a girl. I laugh a lot. Like a lot. Just warning you now. I love playing volleyball and pretending I’m more athletic than I actually am. I can’t spell to save my life but enjoy writing and will probably be journaling like a crazy person on our trip. Otherwise, I love spending time with friends, photography, cool coffee shops, babysitting (I love kids!) and am almost always up for an adventure (which is probably good cauuuse we’re going to Kenya).
So that’s a sneak peek into my life. I can’t wait to meet you guys soo soon (3 weeks?!) and go live in Kenya! Eek!!
