Hi, my name is Jenna Rose Mitchell. I'm 18 years old and I live in Boise, Idaho. My family just moved to Boise recently from Phoenix, Arizona because God really laid it on my parents heart to plant another church here in Boise! (We were planting in Phoenix and that church is growing and thriving even though we left it) I was not planning on Boise being long-term for me. I was planning on attending Moody Bible Insitutute in Spokane this past fall and majoring in Intercultural Studies with and emphasis in womens and childrens ministries (I have a huge heart for human trafficking, widows, orphans etc.) Well. God had other plans. The money that I needed in order to go to college didn't come in (pastors, especially church planting pastors, don't make much money at all. So my parents, as much as they wanted to help, really couldn't offer me much financial support) So I ended up not going! I now work at Moxie Java (A local coffee house) and I'm taking a couple courses at the local bible college! I have no idea where I will go to college of even IF I will go to college when I get back from the Kenya. But the truth of the matter is this: I am THRILLED that Moody didn't work out for me this year because now, God has given me this INCREDIBLE oppportunity to go to KENYA!!! I have wanted to go to Africa for years now. I tried to go two summers ago but ended up going to Nicaragua with AIM (It was an incredible experience) I really cannot put my enthusiasm into words right now. I am so excited to meet you all and to see what God had planned for us and the people we come accross in Kenya!!
Anyways :) When I was in high school I played volleyball and my dad tried to get me to run track (He was a huge track star in high school and college) but after a really bad, and embarrasing, incident with the hurdles, I gave up that sport for good. Now I am really involved in the church my family is planting. It's called City Church and it's really thriving. It's so incredible to see God move here and in the lives of the people that come accross this church. Other than church, I am involved in the junior high ministry (WyldLife) of YoungLife as well! If you haven't heard of YoungLife, its basically a way to build relationships with kids in order to build their trust, be there for them and ultimately share the gospel with them through how we love them! I love this ministry and I'm really having a blast with it!
I love love love to sing. I only like green veggies when they are either drenched in ranch of stirfried with noodles, chicken and lots of spicy sauces. I like to write, I have a blog that I try to keep up with and while I only have eleven followers, I just write because I enjoy it! I'm not really a picky eater...but I'm hesitant about trying new things sometimes. I'm excited to go to Kenya for a lot of reasons! One of which is so that I can be stretched out of my comfort zone and try new things! I'm also excited to get a real taste of what international missions is like. I'm hoping this trip will help to clarify if this is what God wants me to do with my life. I am nervous about leaving my family. I have five siblings (four sisters and an older brother) I'm right in the middle and it's just the three younger ones living at home right now but I am super close with my family. Especially my parents. Four months is a long time and I'm trying to prepare myself now for the home-sickness. I thank God all the time that I have such an awesome family! It really is a blessing to love them so much that I get homesick. But I really don't want my homesickness to consume me. I really want to be free to enjoy every experience in Kenya.
Anyways, I think I have rambled on long enough! I can't wait to read about you all as well!!
